Earthquake Information

To all our International parents and children

I hope you are all coping in this very difficult time. I know that it is a lot more difficult if English is not your first language. For information about the earthquake you should go to www.canterburyearthquake.org.nz and click on FAQ at the top of the page. There you will be offered a brochure which will give you information on support services available to you translated into 10 different languages. You can phone any number in the brochure and ask for the language line. For information about the language line go to http://www.ethnicaffairs.govt.nz and press language line. There are instructions in 41 different languages telling you how to use the service.

I will be available in the staff room or the ESOL room to help you to access any services you may need, especially if you do not have internet access at home.

Please feel free to come and talk to me at any time and I will try to help you.

Take care

Diane Ward

ESOL 2011

Welcome back to all our ESOL students. This year we have representatives from 25 different countries! We are lucky to have our own classroom too. This is Room 10 in the newest block. I will work with groups of students focusing on oral language and literacy. I am hoping to have an ESOL morning tea for parents in the near future but in the meantime please feel free to call in and see our fabulous new ESOL room.
